Unlike other options available today, the Triple 8 Firearms 888 RS-Retaining System is a patented solution developed specifically for the AR15 platform. Its distinctive latch design enables rapid, straightforward, multi-caliber swaps in field or workshop conditions. The adjustable latches accommodate varying barrel extension thicknesses, consistently preserving zero after each change without user recalibration. The handguards feature an octagonal profile for a comfortable grip and are available in multiple lengths; they interchange to match different barrel lengths. The handguard and barrel fully separate from one another for easy breakdowns within seconds. The system fits all gas blocks, including A-frame front sight posts, piston drives, and suppressors up to 1.625 inches in diameter.
When fitted with large, bulky gas blocks or an A-frame front sight post, remove the barrel before removing the handguard. With a low-profile gas block, you may remove either the handguard or the barrel first, whichever you prefer based on your workflow.
For builders or those converting an existing AR15 with the Triple 8 kit, the first install takes less than five minutes and requires minimal tools. It is compatible with all non-proprietary AR15s currently on the market.

An AR15 bolt can fire many different calibers. I.E. 5.56, 300 blackout, 350 legend, 244 valkyrie.
When switching to the additional calibers the AR-15 magwell accepts, a bolt swap will be required.
